<title>HL7-SAIF in motion A pragmatic perspective</title>
<link>http://dr.lib.sjp.ac.lk/handle/123456789/10688</link>
<description>HL7-SAIF in motion A pragmatic perspective
Sabar, M.I.; Jayaweera, P.M.; Edirisuriya, E.A.T.A.
Health Level 7 (HL7) is the most popular global health care standard in operation today. It provides an&#13;
Enterprise Architecture (EA) for the exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health&#13;
information. Closely allied is the Services–Aware Interoperability Framework (SAIF) which is the&#13;
Interoperability Framework that operates on HL7. Using the Messaging, Document Exchange, and Services&#13;
paradigms, SAIF represents the careful blend of the best practices and concepts of many architectural&#13;
frameworks. Utilizing SAIF to churn out HL7-based EA specifications, ensure inter-enterprise and intraenterprise, component-wise, cross-referenced, consistency, conformity, and compliance. This is true&#13;
irrespective of the interoperability paradigm used ,ie., Messages, Documents, or Services. However, these&#13;
technologies are not without their problems, and cynics. They have documented design and implementation&#13;
issues, both empirical and practical. The thrust of this paper is to present the “case technology” of HL7-&#13;
SAIF, both conceptual and engineered, highlighting the shortcomings, design issues, and practical&#13;
difficulties encountered during specifications design and development. Further, pertinent solutions devised in&#13;
this research to overcome these pressing issues are also articulated.

<title>The influence of Involvement and participation, compensation, communication and work-life balance on Employee Engagement: A Case of Insurance Companies in Batticaloa District</title>
<link>http://dr.lib.sjp.ac.lk/handle/123456789/10685</link>
<description>The influence of Involvement and participation, compensation, communication and work-life balance on Employee Engagement: A Case of Insurance Companies in Batticaloa District
Thavakumar, D.; Evangeline, S.J.
Employee engagement is a fulfilling work-related state of mind characterized by feelings of energy,&#13;
dedication, and more concentration towards role performance. This concept is rapidly gaining popularity&#13;
and is used in workplace to retain quality employees. This study examines the factors that influence employee&#13;
engagement and measures the overall level of employee engagement in insurance sector. Four main factors&#13;
were identified such as involvement and participation; compensation; communication and work-life balance.&#13;
To attain the objectives, the quantitative method was used and data were collected through questionnaires. A&#13;
total of 210 questionnaires were distributed to the employees who are in marketing and distribution level in&#13;
insurance companies in Batticaloa District. Only 202 questionnaires were received and used for further&#13;
analysis. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. The findings&#13;
exhibited that, there were relationship between factors and employee engagement and also employee&#13;
engagement of employees is in high level in insurance companies in Batticaloa District. However, all factors&#13;
are positively and significantly correlated with employee engagement. Lastly, the regression analysis&#13;
between factors and employee engagement indicated that only 48% of total variance of employee&#13;
engagement was explained by factors of employee engagement. In conclusion, it is observed that involvement&#13;
and participation, compensations and communication have influence on the employee engagement. This&#13;
shows that employers need to develop a proper and well-structured engagement policies and practices in&#13;
attaining high level of engagement among the employees.

<title>Economic Analysis of Jatropha Bio-diesel Production in Sri Lanka</title>
<link>http://dr.lib.sjp.ac.lk/handle/123456789/10684</link>
<description>Economic Analysis of Jatropha Bio-diesel Production in Sri Lanka
Sivashankar, P.; Weerahewa, J.; Pushpakumara, G.; Galagedara, L.
There has been an increasing trend in investments in renewable energy sources in the recent years. This&#13;
study assesses the economic and financial feasibility of Jatropha production in Sri Lanka under the&#13;
prevailing policy regime. The nominal protection coefficient and effective protection coefficients were&#13;
employed to gauge the level of protection for bio-diesel production using Jatropha in Sri Lanka. The cost&#13;
benefit analysis was performed to assess the feasibility of Jatropha bio-diesel production in Sri Lanka. The&#13;
conventional measures like NPV, BCR, and IRR were used in financial and economic terms. Nominal Rate of&#13;
Protection (NPR) was calculated by dividing the local Jatropha bio-diesel price by the border price of biodiesel. The NPR for Bio-diesel implies that nearly 47% of protection at local market level. Effective&#13;
Protection Rate (EPR) for seed production is 90%, for oil extraction and bio-diesel processing it is 128%.&#13;
Implication of this is that the producers will be protected and they receive returns 47% greater than what&#13;
they would have received under free market conditions for Jatropha cultivation. Except for the benchmark&#13;
situation, all other considered scenarios produce a favourable NPV, BCR and IRR for Jatropha bio-diesel&#13;
production. Economic benefits due to CO2 reduction were also considered in the analysis.

<description>A study on the impact of workplace environment on employee’s performance: with reference to the Brandix Intimate Apparel - Awissawella
Lankeshwara, P.
In the current era of highly volatile business environment, organizations are facing emerging&#13;
achieving operational excellence with the intention to offer a competitive advantage and secure lasting&#13;
results for their customers. The most crucial factor that affects the organization performance is its employee&#13;
since human resources are considered as a source of sustainable competitive advantage. The workplace&#13;
environment gives an immense impact to the employees either towards the negative outcomes or positive&#13;
outcomes. The objective of this study was to identify the impact of workplace environment on the employee’s&#13;
performance. The study has utilized primary data and a sample of size 85 has chosen in accordance the&#13;
Morgan approach of sample selection including both managerial and non-managerial employees from&#13;
Brandix Intimate Apparel- Awissawella through the proportionate sampling technique, using already&#13;
developed questionnaire. Multiple Regression Model has been utilized as the main data analyzing technique.&#13;
The survey results revealed that the job aids, supervisory support and physical work environment as&#13;
positively influential for the employee’s performance and job aid as the most critical predictor. Implications&#13;
of the findings and recommendations are offered
