dc.description.abstract Emulsionpolymerization was carried out to get a homogeneous polymer dispersionof having deserved characteristics. Eighteentrails had been carried out by changing the chemical composition, feedingprocedure and temperature. Selectedtesting parameters which were viscosity, particle size distribution, freemonomer content and texture of the emulsion had been done initially for eachtrial to evaluate the product. Thebalancetests which were solid content, pH, bulk density, free from staining, stability at 37°C, braking load, and resistant to sustained load, whichwere specified in Sri- Lankan standard has been carried out only for equivalentsample to the control sample. It hasbeen observed that slight changers in initiator concentration has a majoreffect on the efficiency of polymerization and also discovered that o besttemperature for the polymerization was 60 C. Thefeeding procedure and the surfactant quantity and the method of adding it, showeda big impact on particle size distribution. It hasbeen showed that feeding procedure, grade of chemicals and the temperaturewere very important for both stability and the performance of thefinalproduct.
