Abstract:
As one of the work related attitudes, organisational commitment is major
employee centred outcome which has major impact on determination of
competitive position of the organisation. Organisational justice is one of the
major factors affecting organisational justice. Therefore, this study is mainly
focusing on investigating the impact of organisational justice on
organisational commitment in selected semi-government organisations in Sri
Lanka. The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship
between organisational justice and organisational commitment. The research
problem addressed under this study is to investigate the impact of
organisational justice on organisational commitment in selected semigovernment
organisations in Sri Lanka. The data were collected from
randomly selected sample of 100 clerical level employees in two selected
semi-government organisations in Sri Lanka by administrating a structured
questionnaire which contained 42 questions with five points likert scale. The
data analysis was made using statistical analysis techniques including
univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. The study was revealed that
there is significant, strong and positive impact of organisational justice on
organisational commitment of clerical level employees in Sri Lankan semigovernment
organisations. Further, the study points out that impact of all the
dimensions of organisational justice (distributive, procedural, and interactive
justice) are also significant, positive and strong. As well it has disclosed that
the level of organisational justice and organisational commitment of clerical
level employees in Sri Lankan semi-government sector are moderate. The
study has concluded that the organisational justice is the most crucial factor to
consider in determining and enhancing the organisational commitment of
employees in this sector of the organisations. Therefore, it is better to take
action to enhance the justice within the organisations and it will lead to higher
organisational commitment of employees which is needed to ensure the
success and progress of the organisation.
