dc.description.abstract Skills are indispensable for successful performance on any job in any field. HRM jobs are critical as they influence on making sure that organizations have right employees to do right jobs at the right time in the right way. It has been generally observed that there is a gap in the empirical knowledge with regard to the skills requirements for key HRM jobs. Therefore the objectives of this study were to explore the skills requirements for key HRM jobs in terms of numbers; and to develop some theoretical formulations of skills requirements for key HRM jobs in Sri Lanka. Findings revealed that the skills requirement is one of the very important requirements in selecting people for key HRM jobs. In connection with the skills nine (09) core skills were uncovered in addition to the number of skills. The findings have implications which are useful for all stakeholders ofHRM especially job seekers and organizations in Sri Lanka. en_US
